Some info about: American Dance Recon
Providing opportunities for international programmers to encounter American dance.
American Dance Abroad periodically hosts American Dance Recon, an intensive symposium that brings international programmers to a U.S. city with a strong and vibrant dance scene. Programmers engage with the local community through attendance at performances, visits to company rehearsals, focus groups and discussions, and conversations with local dance leaders. Editions have been held in New York City in 2012-2016 and in San Francisco in 2013.
The most recent edition of ADR took place in July/August 2017, with visits to Philadelphia, New York City, and Jacob’s Pillow/the Berkshires. The next edition will take place in June 2018, in Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle.
American Dance Recon/Global provides opportunities for international programmers to see American dance that is already touring in their part of the world. This effort encourages increased interest in available American artists and further nurtures relationships among artists and programmers.
