Core values aren't our purpose - they're our essence

🍎 Here are some core values that guide me and a short description of the qualia and meaning they encompass for me right now.

Compassion: caring for others suffering

Curiosity: an awareness of things that draw my attention

Friendship: being a reciprocal and safe person to be around- a feeling of give and receive

Fun and Humor: lightness and not-so-serious, levity, release

Inner harmony: a sense of centeredness within and listening to my wisdom (body/mind/spirit)

Kindness: being gentle with myself and those around me

Learning: being open to new ideas and experiences

Peace: this has a feeling of expansion and calm

Respect: having reverence or a sense of honoring other wishes or my own.

Here are some others to consider:

Determination, Fairness, Faith, Fame, Growth, Happiness, Honesty, Influence, Justice, Knowledge, Leadership, Love, Meaningful work, Openness, Optimism, Pleasure, Recognition, Reputation, Responsibility, Security, Self-respect, Service, Spirituality, Stability, Success, Trustworthiness, Wealth, and Wisdom.

Each core value can have different meanings for each person. To be guided by the same or similar core value(s) as someone else doesn’t mean that the core value(s) has/have the same meaning to the other person. For example, curiosity may mean one thing to me and mean something different to you. Also, to sense the feeling that the core value gives your physical body and not solely what the definition of the word is intellectually - both together are valuable; it’s all about qualia. It’s been my lived experience that my core values fluctuate as I change throughout life. Some core values complement and support each other more than others do.

An entire universe of potential values exists, but some are primary and abiding. These are our core values, which remain the same throughout our life. They’re the fundamental beliefs and guiding principles that form the foundation on which we live and work.
